Ippodromo del Galoppo di San Siro is a place which satisfies an old passion: the love for horses.
The Ippodromo, built in the twenty’s and realized in Liberty style, was restructured in 1975 and today is considered as a structure of national interest.
It’s an area surrounded by greenery dedicated to sport events and live concerts and located in the suburbs of the city. Ippodromo is subdivided in two parts.
The first one concerns the trot, where there are two big galleries in which are placed a restaurant, five bars, two snuffboxes and a recreational area for kids. The second part is the one that concerns the gallop. It’s got the Trenno track, which has an oval form and extends on 2.000 square meters. The rest of the second part of Ippodromo, of about 45.000 square meters, can host about 20.000 people.
In the square close to the second gallery rises the big bronze horse monument, seven meters tall and realized in USA, inspiring to the drawing Leonardo made for the monument to Francesco Sforza.
